Compliment of the Week

A guy came up to us at Yandina last night to tell us he liked our Cooran performance. It was the way he couched the compliment that cracked me up.

"I got home and told the wife there was this eccentric pair of old hippies playing home made instruments, and you know, they weren't bad!"

ON THE ROAD

As we hurtle through space there is plenty of time for contemplation and to try to make sense of the journey that has led us to this point.

Unlike the trajectory of the journey we are taking, all planned out and set out with a map to follow, a life's journey accretes - and becomes a map you can't refold. You don't know where you were heading until you arrive.

So, this journey, as we play our songs over and over again, I am going to try to write down all the emotional meaning they carry and to tell the story of the five years it took to make the record.

It's a story, of joy, near death, a divorce, ecstatic moments, my mother's dementia, a heatwave, threats of violence, tears, reconciliation, silence, and a suicide all wind up in the final mix.
