Catching up

It's been a while - not that we haven't been rehearsing - It's just that getting around to up loading the recordings has taken ages. So, I've gone through the past month or so and selected the best so there is a bit of a benchmark from which to gauge progress.

Amongst this set are a couple of newer things that we're still working up (Calender and Macksville), as well as songs we're now getting pretty good at. These are from September.

ON THE ROAD

As we hurtle through space there is plenty of time for contemplation and to try to make sense of the journey that has led us to this point.

Unlike the trajectory of the journey we are taking, all planned out and set out with a map to follow, a life's journey accretes - and becomes a map you can't refold. You don't know where you were heading until you arrive.

So, this journey, as we play our songs over and over again, I am going to try to write down all the emotional meaning they carry and to tell the story of the five years it took to make the record.

It's a story, of joy, near death, a divorce, ecstatic moments, my mother's dementia, a heatwave, threats of violence, tears, reconciliation, silence, and a suicide all wind up in the final mix.
